Craters of the Moon, Idaho May 2011

What a great place.  Miles of lava flows and cinder cones.  This is one of the only plants we saw.  The black rock absorbs heat in the summer and temperatures regularly go over 120.  In the winter, the rock holds no heat and it is freezing.  




 It reminded me of the Hawaiian lava flows, but BIGGER!  But the ah ah lava hurts just the same.
